Recollections from Derek East (probably) No 23 in 2000:
The four houses Nos 17, 19, 21 & 23 were built in 1967 by a local developer Mr Michael Lynch in the garden of Greenacre (no 15) – then owned by Mr Harding.
At the time there was some controversy in the Avenue which was then a close knit community and insisted that the development be subject to certain restrictive covenants such as ….. no long term parking of trade or other vehicles…. No trade or manufacture to be carried out ……. No house erected thereon shall be used for the business of an Auctioneer, Estate Agent or Surveyor …… no articles shall be placed in the windows so as to be visible from Bargate ……. No house erected on the land shall be of less value than that already on the 2th January 1922 erected on the Croft Avenue Estate!!!
